Park Avenue Green, a new affordable housing community in the South Bronx is officially the largest Passive House development in North America. Defined by a stringent checklist of sustainable requirements, the project’s design reduces the expenditure of energy by incorporating a thoroughly sealed building envelope, advanced ventilation systems, low-energy cooling systems, and rooftop solar panels.
City officials recently celebrated the commencement of construction at Caton Flats, a mixed-use development in Flatbush, Brooklyn, that will eventually introduce 255 units of affordable housing.
The Bluestone Organization and Crown Holdings recently celebrated the commencement of construction at 1182 Woodycrest Avenue in The Bronx. Located in the borough’s Highbridge neighborhood, the nine-story building is designed by Crown Architecture and Consulting and will comprise 40,808 gross square feet.
Construction has topped out at 41 Blue Slip, the second building to rise in the Greenpoint Landing master plan. The reinforced concrete structure now stands 40 stories above the waterfront development. Handel Architects is the designer while Park Tower Group and Brookfield Property Partners are its developers. L+M Development Partners is the third developer of the mega project, but was not involved with this building. The project stands to the south of 37 Blue Slip, the first building to be erected at the Greenpoint, Brooklyn construction site. The glass and metal façade is steadily rising on all sides.
Construction has topped out on One South First, formally called 260 Kent Avenue, in the Williamsburg waterfront development of Domino Park. This is the second new structure to rise from the master plan that aims to revitalize the site of the Domino Sugar factory. The reinforced concrete building now stands 435 feet high and will soon yield 330 rentals, 66 affordable units, and 150,000 square feet of office space among 22 floors, as well as 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. COOKFOX is the architect of the tower while Two Trees Management is the developer.
